Remember our We are Florida Campaign last year? Thousands of Floridians mobilized to our State Capitol to stop all anti-immigrants laws from coming to the Sunshine State and we were able to beat them back.
We are Florida has been nominated for a Rootscamp Award as the Most Valuable Campaign for 2011.
Let’s remember together
More than 3,000 people flooded the Capitol in the last weeks, a place some of us had never been to. The community from Quincy and churches in Tallahassee opened their doors to give us shelter and feed us. Buses left from Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Palm Beach almost every week; and those who couldn’t travel, held vigils and media events in their own districts. It was worth every second.
We are honored to know that our efforts are recognized throughout the country. We were one of the few states in the South that was able to say no to Arizona’s SB 1070.
